Get Over Your BS - Become a Fearless Leader

Today I realized I had been letting fear hold me back.

I needed to call a prospective client to arrange our next step – and I had hesitated.

When I called, he said he wanted to help his people work more effectively through constant change.

"Well," I thought, "I'm amazing at helping teams do just that. What was I so hesitant about?"

Getting Over Your Fear

Why did I hesitate? What was in the way of my taking action?

It was simply a limiting belief: “He might not see the value of my work.”

Total B.S. = a Belief System. Thinking that has become a habit.

Your negative beliefs (“this won’t work,”) are repetitive thoughts you keep thinking.

Just because you think a thought, does not mean it is true. Negative thinking is a habit you can break.

Your power is in acting to create a better result.

Your 2 steps to becoming fearless:

1. Act – do the thing you fear – NOW. By acting you overcome your fear. DO IT NOW.

Use GIT - “Give It Ten” (10 minutes) to get it done:

- Set a timer for 10 minutes.

- Do what you fear – do the work, take the action – NOW – focus 100% on it.

- When the timer goes off, re-set it, and keep going, work to get it done.

2. Recognize your fear – what is it? Is it a situation, person, thing? Write it down = self-awareness.

Self-awareness is essential as a leader. It frees you from repeating mistakes that hold you back.

When you ACT you get to a new level of self-confidence, self-esteem, and success.

You feel great. You create a new habit – acting vs. procrastinating – which empowers you.

“Do the thing you fear most, and the death of fear is certain.” Mark Twain

Become fearless.
