Getting Out of Your Own Way

The other day I was “all about me.”

I was challenged by work; all I could think of was me, me, me.

And it did not feel good.

This soon became a “poor me” victim story.

What does science tell us about how to get out of negative?

Go find someone to help. This moves you out of negative, depressed, sad – quickly.

Right now – think about someone who you could help.

Usually, the first person who comes to mind works for me.

Call them – right now. Commit to 5 minutes with them. Make it ALL about them.

Listen, encourage, compliment; do some act of kindness. Serve a team mate.

Ask, “If I were in their shoes, what would I appreciate?”

And then go do it.

Call them, text them, stop by and help them – socially distanced of course.

When you help someone else YOU benefit.

You get out of your own way and feel better because you made a difference.

You get the idea.

It is all about connection, helping someone else = contributing, serving.

Get out of your own way.

Go out there and help someone.
