How Do You Become Resilient at Work?

Yesterday at work I was focusing on what was not working.

I kept thinking, “How will I get that to happen? How will I… What will I…?”

This negative, habitual thinking was limiting me, keeping me stuck – the opposite of resilient.

As I do leadership training, I remind people that resilient = strong, flexible, and able to see new possibilities.

When you are resilient you feel better, perform better, and bounce back from challenging situations.

So, what is the key to resiliency? You must notice and change your thoughts.

First ask, “What am I thinking that is limiting my success, peace and happiness?”

Then use NBC to reverse your negative thinking quickly.

Notice the thought – “This situation isn’t working,” for example.

Bounce that thought – say to yourself, “Cancel, cancel.”

Change to a better thought – “All situations work for me today,” or “I can do this,” and speak that new belief.

Keep thinking and saying, “All situations work for me today,” or “I can do this.”

New positive thinking, feeling and actions moves you out of negative thinking, into a better mindset.

Since thoughts create your feelings, your energy will shift, and you will take better actions.

Know life is working for you.

Turn it around with, “All situations work for me today.”

Then teach this tool to the people on your team, and those you love at home.

Teach NBC – Notice, Bounce and Change your thoughts.

This reinforces a new positive mindset habit for you and those you care about.

Congratulations.

You are now resilient at work.
